We invite you to join us at our Open House for age 2–grade 12 on Saturday, November 3 from 10 AM to 12 PM.* Our Open House is the best way to discover our amazing teachers, learn about our advanced curriculum, and meet our fantastic current students and parents!
Our Open House starts in the Theatre with an introduction from our Interim Head of School Tiffany Conroy about the welcoming, vibrant, growing community that our students, parents, and teachers are creating here at BASIS Independent McLean.
Then prospective families will be grouped by division and attend three breakout sessions. The breakout sessions will give families a glance at a day in the life of a BASIS Independent McLean student as our teachers and administrators share unique aspects of the Red-Tailed Hawk community. Though no official tour is given, prospective families will have the opportunity to see classrooms and common areas throughout the school. Please note breakout session groups will be by division: Early Learning (Age 2-Kindergarten), Primary (grades 1-4), Middle School (grades 5-8), and High School (grades 9-12). If you are interested in more than one division, we recommend for more than one adult to attend.
A teacher or administrator and a Student Ambassador—students in grades 5–12 who are so excited by the school they want to help other students discover it—will lead groups around to the breakout sessions to hear from a combination of division-appropriate Early Learning Teachers (ELTs), Learning Expert Teachers (LETs), and Subject Expert Teachers (SETs), and current parents. Our teachers are passionate about their subjects and the BASIS Curriculum and can’t wait to share their knowledge with future students.
*For families exploring our Twos Program through grade 7, the event schedule will end at 12 PM. For families exploring grades 8 and above, there will be an additional session featuring sample seminars to showcase our new program, The Academy at BASIS Independent McLean, from 12 to 1 PM.
No matter what grade a family is interested in, our immersive Open House will help families truly experience our dynamic classrooms and nurturing community first hand, as well as better understand how our students are being equipped with the skills necessary to be successful learners at BASIS Independent McLean and beyond!
