We are thrilled to announce that BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, home of the Bobcats, has been named the top High School for 2020 Best Schools for STEM in California by Niche. Our robust curriculum, anchored by liberal arts courses, is complemented by our math, engineering and science offerings. Our students have spoken, and based on data collected by Niche, we have earned a coveted number one ranking.
The OECD results are in! We have crunched the numbers and, once again, our students are out performing the top countries and regions in the world. This is an assessment that tests critical-thinking and the application of knowledge not rote memorization.
Congratulations to our students!
Below is some information regarding the OECD test for schools based on the PISA and our results.
BASIS Independent Silicon Valley recently hosted the team from CBS This Morning - Saturday, and had the chance to explain how our academic community is just so incredible. There was no one more excited for CBS' visit to campus than our own Mr. Billy Thomas, a The Price Is Right enthusiast turned math teacher, who was thrilled to share his classroom with the team.
Upon reviewing the segment, our Head of School, Mr. Toby Walker, said "I think the CBS News team did a pretty good job of showing the kind of energy our students exhibit and our teachers produce in their classrooms. It was exciting to have them, and the story turned out great!"
Please watch on to learn about the myriad ways our students engage with our rigorous curriculum!
Inspired by the blissful feeling of uncovering connections, our blog Eureka! Silicon Valley is about sharing moments that capture the essence of what it is to be a BASIS Independent student, teacher, administrator, or family.
