#1 - Class of 2020 College Acceptances
What a year for the class of 2020! While a lot of things have been atypical regarding many aspects of education over the past few months, one thing is certain regarding our Bobcats--and it is that they have bright, exciting futures ahead of them. “This group of students is especially collaborative and resilient. We watched them form a community in which every single member of the senior class was included. I especially enjoyed watching them set an example for the rest of the student body, and I wish them the best of luck as they move on to the next step on their respective journeys,” said Ms. Batrachenko, one of our College Guidance Coordinators.
#2 - What to Expect on the Fall 2021 Virtual Entrance Exam
All applicants are required to take an online BASIS Independent Schools Entrance Exam. This admissions season is unlike any other given the current health crisis, and although the content is the same, we have adjusted the manner in which we test. Our traditional process of in-person testing has shifted to an online model. This online examination is created, administered, and proctored by BASIS Independent Schools.
#3 - Over Half of the Class of 2021 Recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program
We are proud to announce that 11 of our students have earned places as Semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Roughly 16,000 students across the nation have qualified as Semifinalists, and we are thrilled to have continued representation on our campus. 57% of our senior class was recognized this year including National Merit Semifinalists and Commended Students.
#4 - The Middle School Program through a Parent's Eyes
We know no one can express what it is like to be a BASIS Independent Silicon Valley student better than our Bobcats. We also know, for prospective parents, there's nothing like hearing your top questions answered by, none other than, an experienced parent! Read below to hear from one of our current parents and what she had to say about her school selection process, why her family chose BASIS Independent Silicon Valley for middle school, and what changes she has seen in her two students since starting in our program in grades 5 and 6.
#5 - 2020 Senior Project and Senior Research Project Showcase
In their final trimester as BASIS Independent Silicon Valley students, after seniors have emerged from a deep dive into university-level, content-heavy capstone courses and completed the demanding college application process, they participate in their Senior Project—a high-level research project centered around a question or topic of their choosing. Some of our students are already a year in to the two year commitment that is the Senior Research Project.
BASIS Independent Silicon Valley is a grades 5-12 private middle and high school based in San Jose, California, providing students an internationally benchmarked liberal arts and sciences curriculum
