With the Regular Admissions cycle for the 2017-18 academic school year drawing to a close, we want to take a moment to share some questions that many prospective families have recently posed to the admissions team. Q: What are the upcoming deadlines for admissions?
A: The deadline to apply for the 2017-2018 school year is Tuesday, January 31st. Once you have completed an application for your student, you have until Friday March 3rd to:
- Schedule and complete the Family Meeting and Entrance Exam
- Send in teacher recommendation forms from a math and English teacher
- Send in copies of transcripts for the current year and previous two years (including at least one year of standardized testing if the school conducts such testing)
Q: Tell me about the Entrance Exam?
A: The Entrance Exam consists of three sections including: math, English, and a writing prompt. As we use our own testing, we do not require copies of standardized admissions testing that your student may have previously taken. The test is timed, with 30 minutes allowed for each section. The tests are all grade level appropriate, and no additional studying or preparation is required. Please note that the results of the entrance exam are for internal use only and will not be shared with parents or students.
The final test date for the regular admissions cycle is at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 11th. Once you submit an application you can schedule the Entrance Exam by visiting the application portal here.
Q: When are Family Meetings offered?
A: There are available dates on our admissions calendar for Family Meetings through the deadline to complete the application materials. The meeting is an opportunity for us to meet your student, so he or she must attend the Family Meeting. If you have two children, please schedule one meeting and both applicants can attend the same appointment. Once you have submitted an application, you may visit the application portal here to view the available Family Meeting appointment times. If the posted dates and times do not work with your schedule, please reach out to the admissions office and we can schedule something specific to your needs.
Q: When will families find out if their students have been offered admission to BASIS Independent Silicon Valley?
A: All families will be notified of the admission decision on Monday, March 13th. You will receive an email by the end of the day that will let you know if we have been able to offer your student a seat, if you have been added to our waitpool or if we were not able to offer your student admission.
Q : How much space is available in each grade?
A: We have seats available in every grade for Fall 2017. Last year we accepted new students in each grade and we will do the same this year. We are seeking bright, talented, and curious new BASIS Independent Silicon Valley Bobcats to join our distinguished and diverse program.
