Early and Regular Admissions
This year, we have two admissions cycles: Early and Regular Admissions. Early Admissions is only open for Grades 5-7 while Regular Admissions is for grades 5-9.
What's the difference between Early and Regular Admissions?
Early Admissions: If BASIS Independent Silicon Valley is your top choice for middle school, we recommend that you apply during the Early Admissions cycle. You will receive an admissions decision this November and you will also have an earlier commitment date if your child(ren) is(are) accepted and you decide to enroll. Additionally, your private school search is completed by December instead of March!
Regular Admissions: Families are notified of an admissions decision in March, which aligns with decisions from other private schools in the Bay Area. Your commitment date, if accepted, is the end of March.

What are the admissions requirements?
We advise families who are interested in our program to attend a virtual Information Session, or Open House to learn more about our program prior to attending their online Family Meeting. The Family Meeting is a chance for us to get to know your student, and may not the best format for parents to have all of their admissions questions answered. Learn more and register for an upcoming event by clicking here.
Below, are the admissions requirements for all grade 5-9 applicants:
- Digital Transcripts (current school year and last two school years)
- Digital Teacher recommendations (math and English teacher)

- Virtual Family Meeting (all applicants must attend the Family Meeting)
- Any standardized exams (optional)
Early Admissions applicants have until Monday, November 9, 2020 to complete all above requirements. Families who apply in Regular Admissions, must complete all admissions requirements by Thursday, February 25, 2021
How can I learn more about your program?
We are in unprecedented times and fully recognize that this year's admissions experience is nontraditional. Over the summer, school leadership and the Admissions Team has prepared and planned ways for prospective families to learn more about our program virtually. This admissions season, we will offer virtual Information Sessions and Open Houses, one-one-one meetings with the Admissions Team by phone or Zoom, an online student shadow program experience, virtual tours, and more. We look forward to sharing our program with you and answering your questions.

What are the tuition and fees for the 2021-22 school year?
Tuition for the 2021-22 school year is expected to be released by the end of the year. There is a tuition increase every year.
What are the tuition payment options?
Families have the option to pay tuition all at once in one payment, split tuition into two half payments, or spread tuition across ten monthly payments.
What is on your entrance exam?
The BASIS Independent Schools Entrance Exam covers three areas including, math, language arts, and writing. Each section is 30 minutes long. This exam is not a pass/fail examination but instead a diagnostic. We do not offer nor encourage any preparation for this exam. Please note, we do not release the results of this exam.
Will you have seats available for the next school year?
While our traditional entry points are grade 5, 6 and 9, we anticipate admitting students in every grade level. As a reminder, every year we have a graduating class of seniors that allows us to enroll new students. If you are interested in BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, we recommend you apply!
