Each year, in Subject Expert Teacher Dr. Murthy's Biology class, high school students have the opportunity to create the many structures that they learn about in class. This year, instead of group projects completed in the classroom, our students applied their creativity skills at home. Dr. Murthy is happy to report that, "Learning and fun can go hand in hand!"
Take a look at just a few of the fabulous creations our students developed.
Monisha opted for bowtie pasta in her diagram of compounds that make up double-stranded DNA
Instead of materials provided to them to complete these projects, our Bobcats accessed the resources around them from utility closets, pantries, craft drawers, and even the recycling bins at home for their supplies. From headgear to double helixes, our students turned on their creative side!
Dr. Murthy was excited that the seniors in her Biology Capstone had fun with their activity too!
Aden was able to create his model with carboard, and a LEGO friend.
Don't these students look absolutely thrilled with their creations?!
The next time you think about cleaning out your junk drawer-be sure to check with your Bobcat first. They could have a DNA project to complete!
