We are so proud of our Class of 2020 and honored to share their current list of college acceptances. Additional acceptances will continue to trickle in, however this list is too good to wait. Please join us in joyful congratulations for our graduates. Their hard work, intellectual curiosity, kindness, spirit, and ideals will carry them forward, and in these difficult times, their successes are a shining light of hope and perseverance.
Though spring looks different than we expected, our students had a wonderful winter filled with a variety of in- and out-of-school academic and athletic competitions. Students were not only awarded for their hard work, but they had a lot of fun being challenged and achieving new goals. The BASIS Independent McLean Science Olympiad team and two students on the MATHCOUNTS team are headed to their respective state championships!
It’s been a great fall here at BASIS Independent McLean! Our students participated in a variety of in- and out-of-school academic and athletic competitions. Students were not only awarded for their hard work, but they had a lot of fun being challenged and achieving new goals. Read about their accomplishments below.
For the third year in a row, BASIS Independent McLean’s MATHCOUNTS team won the Northern Virginia Region Chapter Competition on Feb. 2. The team of Brian L. ’23, Sam W. ’23, Max Y. ’24, and Ethan Z. ’23 will compete in the state championships on March 16. The BASIS Independent McLean team is the two-time defending state champion. Both Sam and Ethan were on the winning team last year too.
2019 is off to a terrific start for our students! In January, they participated in a variety of in and out of school academic and athletic competitions. Students were not only awarded for their hard work, but they had fun! Congrats to all our Red-Tailed Hawks!
The second annual BASIS Independent McLean Door Decorating Contest created holiday spirit and excitement for the coming Winter Break. Early in December, students created their own teams and claimed a teacher’s door. Together students brainstormed and brought to live a variety of winter and holiday themed doors. Some were themed to the teacher in the classroom, some to holiday classics, some traditional, and some to the subject taught in the room!
Last weekend was a successful weekend for BASIS Independent McLean academic teams! Both the Model United Nations and Quiz Bowl teams competed with successful outcomes.
We are proud of senior Alexander Y. ’19 for being named a Commended Student in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students are recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test.
We had an exciting second year here at the home of the Red-Tailed Hawks! As our student body grew, so did our community, events, and student achievements.
