Though many things about fall 2022 were unfamiliar, our students continued to shine through clubs and contests that were held in person and virtually. Here, we highlight our students’ accomplishments from the first part of the 2022-2023 school year. Congratulations, Red-Tailed Hawks!
It is hard to believe that the 2021-2022 school year is done. This year, everyone came back to campus, from wearing masks to mask-free, and life went back to the normal that we hoped. On the academic hand, from science and math to drama and our own house system, our students of all ages accomplished a lot in the spring of 2022. Below we highlight their successes. Congratulations, Red-Tailed Hawks!
Félicitations! Gratulationes! Felicitaciones! 恭喜! Middle and high school students received honors based on their performance on a 2022 national language exam. Every student in grade 7 and above chooses a language (French, Latin, Mandarin, or Spanish) to study, and each April, our students participate in the national French, Latin, and Spanish exams, which are taken by students across the country. This year, it is the first time that we offered HSK, the Chinese Proficiency Test to our students. Students from primary to high school all passed their levels of test. We are thrilled to see our students thrive in learning various languages.
History is so much more than dates and people, and History Subject Expert Teacher Mr. Predebon shows that to his students with lots of hands-on activities and debates. From debates to scavenger hunts to trivia review games, you never know what might be going on when you step into Mr. Predebon’s class.
We sat down to speak with Mr. Predebon about why he loves history, how he has fun with the subject and his students, and why he advises afterschool clubs and sports.
BASIS Independent McLean theatre is back! After a year of pandemic safety protocols kept our theatre closed, more than 50 grades 4-12 students participated in our Drama Club's fall play, A Simpler Time for three sold-out shows on November 19, 20, and 21, 2021.
Though this school year was certainly different from previous years, it did not alter our students' perseverance, drive, or dedication to subjects, projects, clubs, and competitions they love. From science and math to drama and our own house system, our students of all ages accomplished a lot in the spring of 2021. Below we highlight their successes. Congratulations, Red-Tailed Hawks!
