Our new Associate Director of Admissions Lauren Knapp wants to help prospective families learn more about what it's like to attend BASIS Independent McLean for our youngest learners! Ms. Knapp sat down with some of our PreK and Kindergarten students to learn more about their favorite parts of going to school here.
Though we’re still in the throes of winter, here at BASIS Independent McLean we are ready for summer! Over a four-week period in the summertime, BASIS Independent Summer offers 10 full- and half-day camps for boys and girls from PreK to grade 12. We sat down with Director of Auxiliary Programs Mike Anderson, who runs the summer program, to answer the five most frequently asked questions.
As our inaugural school year approaches, we're finding ourselves eager with anticipation watching the crucial elements of our program come together. We're searching high and low for outstanding educators, planning our classrooms, and rounding out enrollment of our cohesive class of pioneers.
In the hustle and bustle of preparing for our first year, it is easy to forget that across the world, our sister school BASIS International School Shenzhen is close to wrapping up their own inaugural year as a school. We recently connected with some of their teachers and are excited to share with you a peek inside the Early Learning Program classrooms of BASIS International School Shenzhen. Meet Ms. Huerta:
My name is Ethel Huerta. I am a Pre-K 1 teacher at BASIS International School Shenzhen. I have compiled a collection of stories, examples, and pictures from my classroom to help depict a day in the life of a Pre-K 1 student at BASIS International School Shenzhen.
In the first part of our Early Learning Program blog series, we explored some of parents' most frequently asked questions. In this second installment of the series, we share photos and experiences from our sister school in Brooklyn's PreK room as some of the students helped illustrate examples of the Early Learning Program.
Early Learning: Discovery & Foundation
Though we offer a program designed to ensure students reach developmentally appropriate milestones in preparation for Kindergarten, our daily focus on social and emotional development is present in all aspects of our curriculum. We like to start the day off positively by greeting each other and singing welcome songs to help one another feel ready for a great day.
We have enjoyed meeting so many families at our Informational Events! We are humbled by the excitement families are showing over the Early Learning Program (Pre-K3 and Pre-K4) and we want to ensure you have answers to any questions you may have.
In part one of our Early Learning Program blog series, we are sharing answers to the top 5 questions that we've been asked at our admissions events. As always, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Admissions Team should your questions not be covered in our series.
1. How would you describe the type of program you offer? (ex. Montessori v. Reggio Emilia v. Play-Based, etc)
Inspired by the blissful feeling of uncovering connections, our blog Eureka! McLean is about sharing moments that capture the essence of what it is to be a BASIS Independent student, teacher, administrator, or family.
