As an admissions person, fall means jackets, football, pumpkin spice, and Open House, and this year is no exception! As we wake to the brisk days of early October and see the trees begin to shed amber, golden, and scarlet leaves, the BASIS Independent McLean community settles into the rhythm of a new school year, and our Admissions team begins preparing to welcome your family to our Fall Open House.
Our dynamic learning community is ready and waiting to host you virtually and to give you a taste of life on campus. So, grab your favorite warm beverage (perhaps a pumpkin spice latte or hot chocolate) and join us from your home to learn what makes BASIS Independent McLean unique – not just in the DMV but around the world.
Open House Structure
Many families have children spanning our school. To help families looking across our campus, we have divided Fall Open House into two events – an Early Learning and Primary School Open House starting at 9:00 AM and a Middle and High School Open House beginning at 10:00 AM. Here is what to expect:
Welcome and Introductions – Each Open House will kick-off with a welcome from our Head of School, Mr. Paul Geise, where he will introduce you to our growing community of enthusiastic students, parents, teachers, and staff.
Program Overview – Next your family will learn more about our advanced curriculum and supportive community from our Student Affairs team. The sessions will include: Early Learning Program (Toddler-Kindergarten), Primary Program (Grades 1-4), Middle School Program (Grades 5-8), and High School Program (Grades 9 and above).
Teacher Spotlights – Ask any BIM student what makes our school unique, and they will likely tell you the teachers. During this session, our expert teachers will share their backgrounds and classrooms with you. They will show you how they make learning both challenging and fun!
Student/Parent Perspectives – At BIM, we work in dynamic partnerships with parents to help our students learn and grow as they prepare to be good friends, citizens, and leaders. For Early Learning and Primary families, our parents will share their unique insights into our community, while those joining our Middle and High School sessions will hear directly from our Red-Tailed Hawks. Ask them how BIM is preparing them to soar!
