The school year just began, but Admissions has been busy for weeks preparing for the next school year! We, at BASIS Independent McLean, are excited to announce the launch of our application for the 2019-20 school year. We are accepting applications for PreK (three year olds) through grade 10.

Our Admissions team would also like to give a warm welcome to all of the new families on our interest list and to those visiting our website, blog, and social media as they research schools in the area. As a part of our interest list, families will receive updates on important admissions information and deadlines, upcoming events, and more on our Red-Tailed Hawk community.

Key Admissions Dates & Deadlines

For the 2019-20 admissions season, the admissions team will be accepting applications in two admissions cycles: Early Admissions and Regular Admissions. Applications for both cycles are now open, and the requirements for both cycles are the same. The main differences are application deadlines and notification timing.

There are a number of reasons why we encourage families to apply in Early Admissions, but how do you decide which cycle best suits your needs?

Early Admissions

If you are certain that BASIS Independent McLean is the right fit for your family and our school is your top choice, our team strongly recommends applying during the Early Admissions Cycle. In this cycle, there is more seat availability, and you can have your fall 2019 plan in place before the new year.

These are the dates to remember for Early Admissions, for all grades:

  • Application Submission Deadline:  Thursday, November 15, 2018

  • Application Completion Deadline:  Friday, November 30, 2018

  • Decision Notification Date:  Wednesday, December 5, 2018

  • Commitment Date:  Thursday, January 10, 2019

After our commitment date, families begin receiving a twice monthly newsletter to stay in the know about what’s happening on campus. This includes important registration reminders and things your family can look forward to the following year.

Regular Admissions

If you are considering additional options, then we recommend applying during our Regular Admissions Cycle.

These are the dates to remember for Regular Admissions, for all grades:

  • Application Submission Deadline:  Friday, January 25, 2019

  • Application Completion Deadline:  Friday, February 1, 2019

  • Decision Notification Date:  Friday, March 1, 2019

  • Commitment Date:  Wednesday, March 20, 2019

The admissions process is selective and multi-step, so we get to know your entire family. Application requirements do vary for certain grades, so you should refer to this helpful checklist to see what documents are needed in order to complete an application.

Regardless of which deadline you choose, the admissions team recommends that you get started on your application today!

Visit Campus

No amount of reading or research can quite replace visiting our campus. We are hosting a variety of events on campus throughout the fall to provide families an opportunity to get to know us better! While there are two upcoming events listed below, you can always check the admissions events page to see the complete list of upcoming events and to register.
