BASIS Independent McLean theatre is back! After a year of pandemic safety protocols kept our theatre closed, more than 50 grades 4-12 students participated in our Drama Club's fall play, A Simpler Time for three sold-out shows on November 19, 20, and 21, 2021.

In addition to acting, students were stage managers, prop masters, soundboard operators, stage crew, and lights crew. A Simpler Time was directed by Drama teacher Ms. Butchy and co-directed by Music and Movement teacher Ms. Glanzer.

"After our students faced so many challenges over the last year and a half, this play is exactly what the Drama Club needed," explains Ms. Butcy in the play's Director's Notes. "In it, we meet three teenagers who long to escape the uncertain times they live in using a self-crafted and somewhat dubious time machine. Naturally, they find that every era has its own challenges – and some similarities – with plenty of comedy along the way."

Congrats to all our performers and backstage crew on a wonderful show! See photos below!
