As the first day of our inaugural school year approaches, we're thrilled to unveil to you the team that will make up the founding faculty & staff of BASIS Independent McLean. We're pleased to introduce to you Sumita Baljee, Subject Expert Teacher: Math at BASIS Independent McLean.

Ms. Baljee earned her Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Mathematical Statistics, as the valedictorian from LSR College, Delhi University, India. She was awarded the University Gold medal by the Vice President of India. She earned her Bachelor of Education, specializing in Mathematics from BSP Lucknow University, India.

Ms. Baljee brings over 14 years of teaching experience to BASIS Independent McLean. She says that her goal is “to inspire, motivate and challenge her students to realize their full potential.” Prior to coming to BASIS, Ms. Baljee taught Mathematics to primary and middle school students in Chandigarh, India and in Ashburn, VA.

Ms. Baljee is a professionally trained Bharatanatyam dancer – an ancient Indian dance form. She has been learning & performing under her guru, Ms. Suchitra Mitra. She was a student faculty at the CICD in New Delhi, India, teaching, whilst learning its finer intricacies under the tutelage of the highly decorated and world renowned expert Dr. Sonal Mansingh.
