As the first day of our inaugural school year approaches, we're thrilled to unveil to you the team that will make up the founding faculty & staff of BASIS Independent McLean. We're pleased to introduce to you Rob Biemesderfer, Subject Expert Teacher: Economics and Curriculum Coordinator.
Rob Biemesderfer graduated from Georgetown University in 2012 earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with minors in government and psychology, conferred magna cum laude.
He joins BASIS Independent McLean as a Subject Expert Teacher of Economics and Curriculum Coordinator, handling assessment, scheduling, and aligning of the program to meet and exceed BASIS.ed standards. Additionally, he hopes to support the establishing of the speech and debate team.
Mr. Biemesderfer brings his experience from BASIS DC, where he was part of the founding faculty, teaching Economics (including garnering an AP pass rate above the national average), served as a coach to nationally qualifying middle and high school speech and debate teams, and handled assessments and compliance as the Curriculum Coordinator. Prior to joining BASIS.ed, Mr. Biemesderfer worked as a teaching assistant in the Economics Department at Georgetown University, where he first caught a passion for showing students the power of economic reasoning.
Working as part of the startup team at BASIS DC and serving as a member of the founding faculty, Mr. Biemesderfer has experienced how pivotal and exciting a BASIS.ed-managed school's first year can be, and is enthusiastic to hit the ground running, striving for nothing short of excellence.
“BASIS Independent McLean is well-positioned to be the best school in the world, and I cannot wait to work alongside students as we achieve our shared goals," says Mr. Biemesderfer.
When not at school, you can often find Mr. Biemesderfer spending his weekends biking along the Washington and Old Dominion and Capital Crescent recreational trails.
