It is an exciting time of year in Admissions! We are wrapping up the Regular Admissions Cycle and beginning Rolling Admissions.  There is still time to begin and submit an application for the 2022-23 school year.

After surviving an extremely cold January, February is here, and it is an exciting time to be a Red-Tailed Hawk. From our seniors preparing to leave campus to complete their Senior Projects to our Early Learning Program preparing to celebrate the 100th day of school, change, growth, and discovery are all around us!

In the Admissions world, the Regular Admissions deadline has passed, and over the next month, the Admissions Committee will read applications in preparation for the decision release date of March 3. Plus, we have already opened the Rolling Admissions Cycle.

We have spent months sharing our school community and getting to know new families through virtual and in-person events. A big thank you to all of you who were able to attend one or more of these events! And, there are still more Information Sessions, School Tours, and Shadow Days to come.

Regular Admissions Cycle
Throughout February the Admissions team’s focus shifts to application reading, which is one of my favorite parts of the process. I truly love sitting on my sofa in the evening with a warm cup of tea while I learn more about each applicant’s academic journey and goals.

Here, at BASIS Independent McLean (BIM), we know that fit matters! And, it is our goal to partner with you in determining if BIM is the right choice for your child and your family.

New Red-Tailed Hawks admitted on March 3 will have until March 15 to complete the acceptance process. The Admissions team is busy thinking of fun and creative ways to deliver a dynamic group of admitted student experiences to welcome new families to BIM. We want to help newly admitted Red-Tailed Hawks get connected to our entire community including other new families.

Rolling Admissions Cycle
As we move into Rolling Admissions, I want to provide some guidance on how this cycle works. During this cycle, decisions are released on a rolling and space-available basis on or after March 15. The Committee continues to meet about every 10-days to review the newly completed applications and release decisions. Families admitted during the early part of the Rolling Admissions process have 10 days to accept their offer of admission.

For those who are considering Rolling Admissions, please remember that early action is still key! As we get deeper into summer, two key challenges can arise: 1.) space availability in select grades and 2.) preparation time to be best poised for success at BIM. So, reach out now, and let’s get connected!

As I wrap-up another Admissions blog, thank you to all of our Regular Admissions applicants and families for the time invested in learning more about our dynamic learning community and for the time and care in completing the application process. I look forward to reading each application this month. And, I can’t wait, like many of you, for March 3, when I can call and congratulate the next group of New Red-Tailed Hawks!
