In this session, Dr. Block will discuss the U.S. News & World Report’s Best High School Rankings that has listed five of the ten schools as BASIS Curriculum Schools – at first, second, third, fifth and seventh place and along with our Head of School, the PreK-12 program at BASIS Independent McLean.

Dr. Block had an eminent career as an educator, professor and policymaker before opening the first BASIS Curriculum School in 1998. He earned a masters of arts and doctoral degree in economics from Stanford University and was a University of Arizona Professor of Economics and Law for more than 25 years, as well as Director of the University of Arizona’s Office of Economic Education. Dr. Block has also served as a founding member of the U.S. Sentencing Commission and as a consultant to the World Bank. He was named among Noodle.com’s 67 Most Influential Educators of 2015.

“As an educator, I’m honored and thrilled to see our schools rank so high in this report,” said Mr. Sean Aiken, Head of School. “This is a great opportunity for parents and students to hear how our curriculum originated and why it makes a difference to our students in a global community,” said Mr. Aiken.
