We are so proud of our Class of 2021 and honored to share their current list of college acceptances. Additional acceptances are still possible; however, this list is too good to wait.

Please join us in joyful congratulations for our soon-to-be-graduates. Their hard work, perseverance, creativity, curiosity, kindness, and spirit will carry them forward in college and beyond.

Working with these students through a global pandemic has shown me so much about their character and grit,” says College Counselor Ms. Irving. At BIM, we are privileged to have four days a week together to meticulously work our way through the application season together. Students had to work through the stresses without being able to work too closely and smile knowingly. With applications at the most competitive colleges rising 20-60 percent above average, we were not discouraged. I am so proud of the Class of 2021 and all they have accomplished; they really make BIM look good.

Based on to the 2021 U.S. News & World Report college ranking data,

  • 100% accepted to a four-year college or university
  • 97% accepted to Top 100 Best National Universities
  • 85% accepted to a Top 11 Public University
  • 60% accepted to Top 25 Best National Universities
  • 22% accepted to Top 10 Undergraduate Research Institutions
  • 16% accepted to Top 15 Best National Universities
  • 12% accepted to an Ivy League school
  • UVA, ranked #4 Public Schools, accepted 40% of our applicants compared to 28% of all in-state applicants.

Additionally, William & Mary ranked #11 in Public Schools Nationally, accepted 50% of our applicants, and recently told Ms. Irving that after reviewing the high caliber of BASIS Independent McLean student applications, they needed to reset their expectations for the other applications they review.

Please join us in congratulating our Red-Tailed Hawks!

This list marks the culmination of 12 months of hard work and application dedication. Our seniors began their college application work during the virtual College Counseling Boot Camps last May. Many of them spent their first two trimesters exploring and evolving through the traditional BASIS Curriculum senior year of Capstone courses, College Counseling class, and Senior Project preparation.

Want to learn more about our seniors and their independent research?  Follow their Senior Project progress through their blogs at https://basisindependent.com/seniorprojects/ and join us for their live Zoom presentations on May 22. Seniors will also virtually celebrate their final college decisions on May 5. Current families are invited to both, and Zoom details will be shared through Parent/StudentSquare.
