This coming Wednesday evening March 15th, BASIS Independent Manhattan will convene a panel of BASIS Independent Brooklyn parents who transitioned from a diverse selection of private schools. The panel was formed to help address questions from parents currently in the private school system considering our Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses.
One parent of two students currently enrolled in our elementary school offered an overview of her family's experience coming from one of the highest ranked Brooklyn progressive schools to BASIS Independent Brooklyn:
"This is the second year for our family at BASIS Independent Brooklyn. We quickly became very confident in our decision to partner with BASIS Independent to educate our children. As parents, we feel supported on every level. In addition to standing teacher hours, standing student hours, and newsletters recapping each week's activities, Learning Expert Teachers (LETs) are available via phone and email.
At the onset of our son's first year at BASIS Independent, we had some academic concerns specific to him. The LETs exceeded our expectations in quickly and thoroughly assessing our son and bringing recommendations to us to consider. We agreed with their recommendations and we have not looked back as our son is thriving, happy and challenged.
This school year, we have been working in concert with our daughter's LET to support her through social issues that come with growing up. Together with the LET, we came up with a plan to support and guide her. We check in with each other regularly to share progress, discuss bumps in the road and enhance our plan. It is so reassuring to feel a partnership with our daughter's LET.
Our catch phrase is, 'What would we do without BASIS?'"
