As the first day of our inaugural school year approaches, we're thrilled to unveil to you the team that will make up the founding faculty and staff of BASIS Independent Manhattan. We're pleased to introduce to you Catherine Odens, Learning Expert Teacher: Grade 4.
Ms. Odens graduated with honors from the College of Education at the University of Arizona with an Elementary Education degree emphasizing English as a Second Language (ESL).
Formerly a Learning Expert Teacher within the BASIS Curriculum Schools network in Arizona, Ms. Odens is looking forward to bringing her expertise with our program to the community of a newly-founded school. “These students are beyond brilliant,” she says, “and there is no doubt they will change the world.”
Her main goal with her students is to encourage their natural curiosity while instilling a sense of dedication to becoming lifelong learners. She says, “Our program allows students to obtain an exceptional educational background, and I am honored to be a part of creating that inspiration and opportunity for my students. To encourage students to go above and beyond their limits and change the status quo is creating talented individuals who will be able to actively participate in our competitive society. This is exactly what BASIS Curriculum Schools do and why I am thrilled to be a part of this community.”
