The admissions process could seem overwhelming or confusing, especially with various components that must be completed by certain dates and deadlines. We have assembled all of the information you need to know in this one blog post so you can get all your questions answered and more easily get started.

First, let's start with a brief primer about us. At BASIS Independent Manhattan, students and Subject Expert Teachers engage in a spiraling liberal arts and sciences curriculum benchmarked to the best education systems in the world. We believe in setting a higher standard for students and promoting self-reliance and accountability in an environment where learning is encouraged and celebrated.What are the key admissions dates?

  • Application Deadline: Thursday, January 13, 2022
  • Application Completion Deadline: Thursday, January 27, 2022
  • Notification: Friday, February 4, 2022*
  • Commitment Deadline: Wednesday, March 2, 2022   
*Families of students applying to PreK-10, are notified of an admissions decision in February, which aligns with decisions from other ISAAGNY schools. 


What are the admissions requirements?
Bulleted out here are the components needed to complete our admissions process. Before embarking on the list below, we advise families who are interested in our program to first attend an Information Session, Open House, or speak with a member of the Admissions Team to learn more about our program. Following that step, you would be able to schedule a Family Meeting. View and register for our upcoming admissions events here.

  • Virtual Family Meeting (All Grades) - All prospective students applying for grade 2 and up are required to join the Family Meeting with their parents.
  • Math and English Teacher Recommendations (Gr. 1 and above)
  • Transcripts (Current school year and last two school years)
  • Virtual Play Date (PreK, Kindergarten, and Gr. 1 only)
  • Entrance Exam (Gr. 2 and above) - Families can choose to have their students take the assessment virtually or in person. 

Families who apply in Regular Admissions must complete all admissions requirements by Thursday, January 27, 2022.

What are the tuition and fees for the 2022-23 school year?
Tuition for the 2022-23 school year is expected to be released by the end of the year. There is a small tuition increase every year. For reference, the tuition for the current school year (2021-22) is listed below.


What are the tuition payment options?
Families have the option to pay tuition all at once in one payment, split tuition into two half-payments, or spread tuition across ten monthly payments.  

Will you have seats available for the next school year?
We will have seats available in every grade level for the 2022-23 school year. While our traditional entry points are PreK, grade 5, grade 6, and grade 9, we will have seats across all grades. If you are interested in BASIS Independent Manhattan, we recommend you apply!

Do you have seats available for the current school year?
Yes. We also are in a Rolling Admissions Cycle for 2021-22 and are taking applications for select grades. If you are interested in this process, please email manhattan-admissions@basisindependent.com
