We know learners thrive when they have the freedom to explore knowledge outside of the classroom; that learning is most effective when students are empowered with autonomy and engaged by interests and passions interwoven into content spanning discipline and field.
Inspiring students to learn outside the four walls of their classroom and the parameters of a singular subject drives the pedagogy at BASIS Independent Fremont. One of our student’s most beloved examples of this methodology in practice is the tradition of Term Projects Week at our Lower and Upper School campuses. This year, we sat down with our Bumblebees and Yellow Jackets to hear all about their favorite memories and most significant takeaways from our 21-22 Term Project Week.
At BASIS Independent Fremont, nothing is more important than the health, happiness, and security of our community. Students today live in a world of ever-growing pressures, distractions, vulnerabilities, and potential pitfalls. As such, our passionate administrative teams work collaboratively to create and implement year-round initiatives, as well as special events that keep our student body on track and focusing on options and opportunities that promote well-being and nurture the development of healthy decision-making skills. One of our community’s most beloved customs, born of these initiatives, is our tradition of Wellness Weeks.
This holiday season BASIS Independent Fremont paused to reflect on and appreciate the tremendous community that has grown and developed together over the last six years. Below are insights and reflections of gratitude shared by members of our Lower School staff and student body.
For Early Learners, BASIS Independent Fremont’s Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program offers students the opportunity to foster a love for learning through developmentally appropriate play, music, and hands-on activities that help make high-level material more accessible. We spent a day with our Transitional Kindergarten classes to give you a look into a typical day in our TK program.
With the start of the 2021-2022 school year at BASIS Independent Fremont and many of our young scholars having been out of the traditional classroom environment for the better part of two years, it was clear that our first order of business for the school year needed to be…CELEBRATING! We. Are. Back! And boy, does it feel good to be on campus, engaging IN-PERSON with our talented scholars once again, building up the wonderfully diverse and inclusive community that makes BASIS Independent Fremont unlike any other.
Inspired by the blissful feeling of uncovering connections, our blog Eureka! Fremont is about sharing moments that capture the essence of what it is to be a BASIS Independent student, teacher, administrator, or family.
