Every parent hopes that their child will receive a high-quality education that prepares them to attend a college of their choice. A huge factor that contributes to our students’ success is the dedicated college counseling team that helps support our high school students at BASIS Independent Fremont.
Our college counseling staff supports students in a variety of ways that extend far beyond just helping students research and apply to colleges. Students are first introduced to college counseling in Grade 9, with the program becoming increasingly comprehensive as they progress through their high school years. In fact, our high school seniors even take a daily college counseling class for two full trimesters!
Read on to learn more about how the college preparation process supports students throughout high school at BASIS Independent Fremont, and what it means to graduate from a program with a track record of student success.
We're proud to share some exciting news out of our sister school, BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, who just last week rounded off their college admissions season! Keep reading for the statistics on this year's college admissions, hot off the press from the BASIS Independent Silicon Valley blog:
Believe it or not, the end of the school year will be here before we know it. Our hallways are buzzing with excitement and anticipation as we get ready to celebrate a big first for us, not just here at our school, but for BASIS Independent Schools as a whole: our first graduating class! This first senior class in Silicon Valley is composed of a driven group of 14 students, since our admissions team was very selective in identifying candidates qualified to enter the high school as upperclassmen given the challenging curriculum.
With our first graduating class comes our first round of college admissions. At our State of the School address in February, we shared with participants some of the preliminary results of the tireless work of our College Counselor, Mr. Chris Wilcox, and our students as they worked together to fulfill college dreams. In their senior year, BASIS Independent Schools students take a daily College Counseling course and place a large focus of their time ensuring they have their best foot forward. We are pleased to share that all college admissions results are in: our very first graduating class has gained admission to some of the top universities in the nation!
Inspired by the blissful feeling of uncovering connections, our blog Eureka! Fremont is about sharing moments that capture the essence of what it is to be a BASIS Independent student, teacher, administrator, or family.
