Transitional kindergarten (TK) is a student’s first and most formative introduction to navigating routines and cultivating autonomy. We, as parents and caretakers, may have fuzzy memories from this time, and a lot has changed since we were little ones experiencing the thrills of transitioning to a “big kid school” for the first time. To bring you up to speed, we followed our TK classes, led by an expert team of Early Education Teachers, to give a look into a day in the life of a 2022 BASIS Independent Fremont TK student.
At BASIS Independent Fremont, nothing is more important than the health, happiness, and security of our community. Students today live in a world of ever-growing pressures, distractions, vulnerabilities, and potential pitfalls. As such, our passionate administrative teams work collaboratively to create and implement year-round initiatives, as well as special events that keep our student body on track and focusing on options and opportunities that promote well-being and nurture the development of healthy decision-making skills. One of our community’s most beloved customs, born of these initiatives, is our tradition of Wellness Weeks.
For Early Learners, BASIS Independent Fremont’s Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program offers students the opportunity to foster a love for learning through developmentally appropriate play, music, and hands-on activities that help make high-level material more accessible. We spent a day with our Transitional Kindergarten classes to give you a look into a typical day in our TK program.
BASIS Independent Fremont will launch its high school with grade 9 for the 2020–21 school year and add a new grade level each year until BASIS Independent Fremont is a full TK–12 program.
“Our teachers, our students, and our families have created a thriving community where learning is loved and celebrated,” says Head of School Dr. Ashley Leyba. “The addition of our high school will continue our standards in academic excellence while uniquely preparing students to not only enter top colleges and universities, but also excel in these environments and beyond.”
We are excited to open the doors to the High School Program next fall, as well as the opportunities that await both our eager students and dedicated Subject Expert Teachers.
