I enjoy working at BASIS Independent Fremont because it a small community where I know everyone in school. I love collaborating with my colleagues to create challenging and hands on projects for my students.
What do you hope students take away from your classes?
I hope my students leave my class with not only the skills for their new grade, but also, with a sense of curiosity about learning, independence, and the understanding of working hard.
Can you think of a memorable anecdote from teaching at BASIS Independent Fremont?
One day in guided reading, we were reading about horseshoe crabs. The story said they were alive when the dinosaurs were alive. One student in my group asked, “How do we know that?” I had to find a quick and simple way of explaining carbon 14 dating to a 6 year old. Good thing our class element is carbon!

Outside of teaching, I enjoy dancing and working out.
What motivated you to become a teacher?
