As the first day of our inaugural school year approaches, we're thrilled to unveil to you the team that will make up the founding faculty & staff of BASIS Independent Fremont. Many thanks to all who have participated in our numerous hiring events that have led to the hiring of such a talented group of professionals. We're pleased that you took part in such a crucial process of the establishing of our cohesive school community. First up, meet Audrey Hagopian!

Audrey Hagopian is the Director of Student Affairs at BASIS Independent Fremont.

Originally from North Carolina, Ms. Hagopian earned her Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Science and Chemistry from Duke University. While at Duke University, Ms. Hagopian taught chemistry lessons to K-12 students through a program called Duke Chemistry Outreach. She conducted research in Environmental Toxicology, specifically studying the health effects of exposure to triphenyl phosphate from common household products. Ms. Hagopian, who is a classically trained ballet dancer, also served as the director of an arts-focused after-school program in North Carolina, where she provided tutoring in math and English and ran the ballet and creative movement classes for children aged 3 to 12.

Ms. Hagopian is extremely excited to join BASIS Independent Fremont. She was formerly the science teacher for grades 4 and 5 at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, followed by a year as the Dean of Students for students in grades 5 and 6 at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley. Ms. Hagopian has helped students succeed both in and out of the classroom, and she believes that with the right tools, any student can succeed academically! She loves the energy that primary-aged students bring to the classroom, and as the leader of student support, she is excited to guide them as they reach their highest potential.

After the school day, you may spot Ms. Hagopian twirling around a ballet studio, trying out new science experiments, or exploring California’s great outdoors.
