The college placement results for the Class of 2020 have arrived!

The results are in and from coast-to-coast, BASIS Independent Schools continues to shine with impressive college placements! We are incredibly excited to share the Class of 2020 college placement results from across the network including BASIS Independent Brooklyn, McLean, and Silicon Valley. The Class of 2020 represents a total of 129 BASIS Independent seniors who submitted nearly 2,500 college applications.

Our seniors have all worked tremendously hard to achieve these results, and we could not be prouder of all that they have accomplished. It is the commitment, intellectual curiosity, and grit of our seniors, coupled with the dedication and passion of our Subject Expert Teachers, and the guidance and support of our College Guidance Coordinators that result in the extraordinary outcomes for our seniors every year. As the next chapter begins for our BASIS Independent graduates, they will enter their selected higher institution prepared to excel. We look forward to hearing more about their valuable contributions during their college years and beyond.

Ms. Irving, BASIS Independent McLean's College Guidance Coordinator, reflected on the class of 2020, "Our seniors have shown themselves to be resilient, fun, diligent, and impressive. This year has brought much need for adaptation and strength of character and they have shown it all. I can’t wait to follow their amazing journeys as BASIS Independent Alumni."

Our Students Participate in a Proactive College Counseling Process
At BASIS Independent Schools, we take a comprehensive approach to college counseling in our high school program. From Grade 9 to Grade 11, students participate in college counseling boot camps or presentations, meet one-on-one with their College Guidance Counselor, attend presentations hosted by admissions representatives from a variety of colleges and universities, and more.

In grade 12, seniors take a daily college counseling class for two trimesters. In this seminar-style course, students explore college and university options in greater depth, discuss strategies for making the most of their application package, review college essays, conduct mock interviews to develop interview skills, and more. This course allows the College Guidance Coordinators to get to know their students well, which in turn, helps students with finding the best college fit based on their interests and passions. This relationship also helps with writing an impactful letter of recommendation for the student. Additionally, counselors will hold informational events for parents to help them feel equipped to navigate the often-overwhelming college application process.
