Many thanks to those who participated in our Regular Admission Cycle. We had an astounding number of applicants and have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them.

Although our Regular Admission Cycle is now complete, it’s not too late to submit an application to BASIS Independent Brooklyn for the 2015-2016 school year. Based on demand, we are now moving into a Rolling Admission Cycle.

How does it work? Read below carefully for steps on how to pursue application during our Rolling Admission Cycle.

  1. Submit an online application and select “Rolling Admission Cycle” on the drop-down menu for selecting the Application Cycle.
  2. Schedule required meetings via the online application. Requirements vary by grade; please see corresponding checklists for grades K - 1 and grades 2 - 9. Family Meetings will be available on a regular basis. Testing/Playdate sessions will occur approximately 1-2x a week.
  3. Gather required supplementary materials. Requirements vary by grade; please see corresponding checklists for grades K - 1 and grades 2 - 9.
  4. Keep note of the following key dates:

Deadline for Completed Application: August 15, 2015, but can be closed at any time based on reaching our enrollment capacity. Demand far exceeds seats open in a number of grades. Do not delay in applying.

Notification Date:  We aim to notify you within 30 days of receiving your completed application. This includes supplementary materials and required meetings.

Commitment Date:  During Rolling Admission the commitment will be 30 days from the date on your acceptance letter. Please note as we draw closer to the start of the school year or as a grade nears capacity, we will require a shorter time frame for your commitment.

Contract Binding Date: May 15, 2015. If you receive an acceptance after this date, the contract will immediately be binding. Depending upon the payment plan selected, you may need to “catch up” on prior payments per the schedule.

At this time, the scholarship opportunities we have are: a merit scholarship program to incoming 9th graders and two Red Hook Houses Scholarships for 2015-2016 applicants. Should this change, we will notify via our blog and follow-up emails.

As always, should you have any questions or would like to speak with a member of our team, please don't hestiate to reach out to us at or call (718) 643-6302.
