Yes, we are serious!

MrWinterMiddleSchoolPhysics.jpgMr. Winter told us that one of the reasons he decided to leave teaching at the university level to teach at BASIS Independent Brooklyn was because of his desire to keep alive the sheer enthusiasm young students have for science. When students got to his college physics classroom, they were often dejected and even turned off by science.

How do we keep love of science alive here at BASIS Independent Brooklyn? We show kids how utterly cool and exciting science is and they take more of it than at any other school, earlier on in their education. Students take chemistry, physics, and biology each as separate classes in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

Watch Mr. Winter school our 6th grade students on inertia and mass in a way they'll likely never forget (don't worry... Mr. Winter is still alive and well).
