The final installation of our Student Ambassador blog posts ends with a snapshot of our Middle School Student Ambassadors who are super excited to meet and welcome all of our newly admitted and prospective students. They have so much to share with you regarding their experiences at BASIS Independent Brooklyn and are super passionate to speak with more students about our amazing teachers, academic curriculum, and student life. If you missed the profiles of our High School Ambassadors, you can take a look here, but for now enjoy the profiles of our Grade 5 through 8 ambassadors.

Just to provide a recap of our Middle School Program, our students complete a rigorous schedule in all core disciplines, including three separate, concurrent science classes (physics, chemistry, and biology), economics, world language, and a course in logic. Students can choose an elective beginning in grade 6 and a world language option in grades 7 and above. The spiral of the curriculum is essential and highly apparent in these grades, particularly regarding the revisiting of concepts in the sciences in greater depth with each passing year, as students prepare for entry into Honors or Advanced Placement (AP) level coursework starting in grade 9.

To register for your Virtual Ambassador Lunch, please contact our Admissions team. They're looking forward to meeting your students soon!

What Advice Would You Give to a New Student?
“A piece of advice I would give to a new student is to stay organized. It is very important to keep track of your assignments, assessments, notes, important dates etc. I speak from personal experience. When I first came to BASIS Independent Brooklyn, I was not very organized. It was harder to meet deadlines, and I ended having to spend hours working on homework before it was due because I did not know the due date. If you stay organized, then it will be a lot easier to complete your work.”

There are a lot of resources out there so you will be okay! Work hard in school so by the end of the year when summer comes around you can chill, which then makes summer much more valuable!

BASIS Independent Brooklyn allows for academic learning but you can also take electives to round yourself out. For example, last year I took choir and this year I’m taking computer science! BASIS Independent Brooklyn offers a lot of opportunities and you can start creating your own path!"
